In Email Delivery Analytics, each unsuccessful delivery attempt, known as "Failed", is counted regardless of any subsequent successful deliveries. The reason for counting every attempt, including failed ones, is that they provide valuable insights into possible issues such as a recipient's mailbox being full or invalid email addresses.
For example, if there were 7 failed attempts to deliver registration emails, but the system retried sending those emails 10 minutes later, and all were successful, those 7 failed attempts are still counted in Email Delivery Analytics even though all emails were eventually delivered successfully.
There are two types of Failed status: soft bounces (temporary issues, usually resolved upon retry) and hard bounces (permanent issues like non-existent addresses). Analyzing these failed attempts helps troubleshoot potential problems, and improve overall deliverability rates.
