What is domain white labeling?

Domain white labeling allows you to replace the default togetherplatform.com references with your own domain. This creates a more seamless, branded experience for your participants β€” they'll see your company's domain in the application URL and in any transactional emails (such as "New mentee request" or "Join the new mentoring program") instead of Together's.

We support two types of white labeling:

Note: Only one white label can be active at a time β€” both types cannot be used simultaneously. Regardless of which option you choose, your application will always remain accessible at its default regional domain (e.g. app.togetherplatform.com, eu.togetherplatform.com).

Together Domain Slug

Available to all customers. A Together domain slug replaces the default URL with a custom slug in front of the Together domain. No DNS changes are required on your end.

Example:

Β  Before After
Application URL app.togetherplatform.com acme.togetherplatform.com
Email sender Mentoring <mentoring@togetherplatform.com Mentoring <mentoring@togetherplatform.com

With a domain slug, you can customize the email sender name and address, but emails will still be sent from the @togetherplatform.com domain.

Note: Slugs are limited to a single value in front of the Together domain (e.g. acme.togetherplatform.com, not sub.acme.togetherplatform.com).

Fully Custom Domain

A fully custom domain replaces all Together domain references with your own subdomain, including the email sending domain.

Example:

Β  Before After
Application URL app.togetherplatform.com mentoring.acme.com
Email sender Mentoring <mentoring@togetherplatform.com Mentoring <mentoring@mentoring.acme.com

Prerequisites

Before getting started, make sure the following are in place:

  • You own the domain you'd like to use (e.g. acme.com)
  • Your IT team has access to manage DNS records at your domain registrar (required for fully custom domains only)
  • Your organization approves DNS modifications for the chosen subdomain

How is white labeling done?

Together Domain Slug

To set up a domain slug, provide the following to Together Support:

  • Your desired slug value (e.g. acme for acme.togetherplatform.com)
  • Your preferred email sender name and address (e.g. Mentoring <mentoring@togetherplatform.com)

Submit a request to us here, and we will handle the rest β€” no DNS changes are required on your end.

Fully Custom Domain

White labeling with a fully custom domain requires modifying your DNS records, so make sure this is acceptable for your organization before proceeding.

We support two methods for setting up a fully custom domain: subdomain delegation (recommended) or manual DNS configuration.

To get started, provide the following to Together Support:

  • A subdomain hostname for the application (e.g. mentoring.acme.com)
  • Optionally, an email send address (e.g. mentoring@mentoring.acme.com)
  • Whether you would like to use subdomain delegation or manually configure DNS records

Submit a request to us here, and we will provide you with the DNS records to enter into your registrar.

Subdomain Delegation (Recommended)

With subdomain delegation, Together manages your DNS records for the white labeled subdomain. We will provide you with NS (name server) records to add to your registrar. This is the recommended approach because:

  • Certificate renewals are handled automatically
  • Future DNS changes require no action from your team

Manual DNS Configuration

If you prefer to manage the DNS records yourself, we will provide you with the following records to add to your registrar:

  • A Records β€” for certificate validation and pointing your subdomain to our services
  • TXT Records β€” for SPF and DKIM email authentication (ensure your DNS allows multiple TXT records)
  • CNAME Record β€” for email tracking (e.g. email.mentoring.acme.com)

Note: If you choose manual DNS configuration, the certificate validation records must be completed within 72 hours or a new certificate will need to be generated.

Once the DNS records are in place, reply back in your original request and Together will confirm a successful white labeling procedure.
